I've been a big Hendrix fan since I was a teenager, but honestly there were things told in this documentary that I didn't know about his early life. I've seen a lot of films covering Jimi's musical career, but this is the first one I've seen that really goes into detail about his early years, as told by the people that knew him best, his childhood friends and family. Now, I understand much better the lyrics behind his music and the poignant and tragic events that helped to shape his life and art. Once you see this film, you'll never hear another one of Jimi's songs in quite the same way!
